Redbridge borough-wide additional HMO licensing applies from 18 September 2023 to 17 September 2028 to HMOs occupied by three or four people in two or more households.
HMO licence fees are paid in two parts and based on number of households. The current minimum published fee is £1,865.34 for 2 households: £696.14 first stage and £1,169.20 second stage.
Properties exempt from this scheme
- the building is of a description specified in Schedule 14 of the Act
- the HMO is subject to an Interim or Final Management Order under Part 4 of the Act
- the HMO is subject to a temporary exemption under section 62 of the Act
- the HMO is required to be licensed under mandatory HMO licensing
- Converted building HMOs that consist of no more than two flats are exempt from the additional HMO scheme.
