- £750
Ealing selective licensing designation 1 covers East Acton, Southall Broadway and Southall Green on pre-May 2022 ward boundaries.
The scheme covers 3 named wards. Two streets on either side of a ward boundary can end up with different answers, so checking the ward of the property matters more than the postcode.
Paid in two parts: £250 on application (Part A) and £500 before the licence is issued (Part B).
Properties exempt from this scheme
- No licence is needed where an owner occupier shares their home with one or two lodgers.
- No licence is needed where the property is let to close family as defined by the council.
- A three-month temporary exemption may be available where the property is being sold, converted to commercial premises, the owner is moving in, tenants have been given notice, or a licence holder has died.
- Other statutory exemptions may apply under the Selective Licensing of Houses (Specified Exemptions) (England) Order 2006.
Discounts the council offers
- £75 discount for accredited landlords with certification from a recognised accreditation organisation.
- £50 discount for properties with an Energy Performance Certificate rating of A-C.
- 10% discount for selective licence applications for two or more flats in the same building under the same ownership.
A landlord who qualifies for the strongest energy and accreditation discounts on this scheme pays around £675 instead of the headline £750 fee, a saving of £75.
