Properties exempt from this scheme
- HMOs required to be licensed under Part 2 of the Housing Act 2004 are exempt from selective licensing.
- Properties owned by a registered social landlord are exempt.
- Properties prohibited under Section 20 of the Housing Act 2004 are exempt while the action has not been suspended.
- Properties subject to a management order or empty dwelling management order under Part 4 of the Housing Act 2004 are exempt.
- Properties managed or controlled by Doncaster Council, a registered social landlord, South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue or a health service body are exempt.
- Business tenancies are exempt.
- Licensed premises covered by a premises licence for the sale or supply of alcohol are exempt.
- Tenancies with a term of more than 21 years are exempt.
- Houses let to family members are exempt.
- Resident landlords with lodgers sharing their accommodation are exempt.
Discounts the council offers
- £50 discount on the Part 2 fee for applicants who demonstrate membership of a relevant recognised body, such as a landlord association.
A landlord who qualifies for the strongest energy and accreditation discounts on this scheme pays around £550 instead of the headline £600 fee, a saving of £50.
